About the Class:
Thank you for taking an interest in Elevating Tutors’ SAT Math pilot class for up to 25 students. The SAT is the number one exam colleges and universities use that tests the things you already know. The most critical section of the SAT that most students have trouble with is the math section. Over the course of 6 weeks, we will intensely train you to be at your best when taking this section of the test.
About the Instructor:
AJ Davis has been in education since 1999, initially as a tutor and substitute teacher. He holds a B.S. in Mathematics and he is finishing up classes in his M. Ed. in Secondary Education. He has taught math since 2004 on the middle school, high school, and college level. He started off as a recitation leader teaching College Algebra at Southern Polytechnic State University. He then moved on to teach 7th grade for 3 years of math special education. This year he has moved up to the high school level teaching both Math I and Algebra II in Newton County.
The Textbook:
A textbook for this class is not required, however, we will be using the official College Board SAT Study Guide. Requirements & Procedures:
Although there are no academic requirements for this class, we ask that each student at least be somewhat familiar the SAT content. To make sure students have seen the material before, we ask each student to take the math practice sessions of the SAT (Click here to see sample questions and complete the sample test).
Each week assignments and strategies will be given that are used on the SAT . However, there is no grade for this class. Please keep in mind, the more you put into this class, the better prepared you will be for the SAT.
Misbehavior will not be tolerated for this class. Any student that displays any behavior(s) detrimental to the learning environment is subject to immediate expulsion from program. It is at the instructor’s discretion as to what deems expulsion and he has the right to expel without warning. Prior to enrollment in this class, all students must sign the Parent, Student, Tutor Agreement to ensure the overall learning environment will not be affected negatively by inappropriate behavior.
